There is no dearth of online reports suggesting top digital trends based on user polls and surveys - however I prefer posting about top digital marketing trends based on my opinion [backed by some market research data] without any percentages because none of the current studies were exhaustive &  majorly based on extrapolation of small survey numbers.

Top digital marketing trends in 2009:

• Blogging

• Micro-blogging Services(I mean Twitter)

• Search Engine Optimization & Marketing

• Pay Per Click or Performance based models

• Video/Viral marketing (Youtube,Viral Microsites)

• Social Media Marketing/Engagement/Optimization

• Email Marketing

While Twitter is so hot for crisp and clear online conversations ,blogging is still the best way to put your brand/product/personal message to influence people  on web [ backed by recent controversial studies from eMarketer and WSJ].

SEO is still the best way to drive target consumers to your website but it can deliver awesome results when clubbed with social media marketing strategies because it will help you to improve your organic search results ranking - In SMM , content  created, shared & distributed and discussed will help you to improve off-page SEO & relevancy factors .

While most of the marketing firms rate Social Media Marketing is the next best/big marketing channel to engage with consumers , it is still in infancy stage but progressing rapidly.

Ditto. Thanks for the WIKI link. The key take-away from this blog is the point that blogs add to the organic growth of your traditional digital advertising. A company blog that links to their other SM sites (LinkedIn, FaceBook) contains up-to-date relevant information and commentary and visually engages the reader is worth more than PPC or other advertising routes.
